GENERAL INFORMATION

George Buzzard was a blacksmith and "a noted gunsmith". He lived in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. In 1803 George moved to North Hampton County, Pennsylvania.

Sometime after their marriage George and Rachel relocated to Plumstead Township, also in Bucks County.

George Buzzard was a soldier and a patriot at the time of the American Revolution. He served with a local militia that was called to action. His name appears on a class roll of the 3rd Company of the 3rd Battalion of the militia of Bucks County, dated June 12, 1780, along with the name of his father-in-law, John GODSHALK.

Sometime after 1803, George moved to Lower Mt. Bethel Township, Northhampton County, Pennsylvania. This is where he lived out his years.

Records of 1779 in New Brittain Twp., Bucks County:

George Buzzard served in the Revolutionary War, in Captain Henry Darocks' Company, 2nd Class, 3rd Company, 3rd Battalion of the Bucks County Militia. He served from 1779 to 1781 (Pennsylvania Archives, 5th Ser, Vol 5, pp 360-381). In the 1781 Tax Record his occupation was that of a blacksmith, owning one horse and one cattle. In the 1790 census his household consists of two males over 16, two males under 16, and five females. By 1800 he can be found in Plumstead Twp. Bucks Co.. George married Rachel GODSHALK. Rachel was born about 1759 and was still living in 1814 when her father's will was made.
