Johann was a cooper in Niederseebach, Bas Rhin, Alsace, France, just a mile south of Oberseebach. He came to America with his wife and all of his children in 1732 on the ship "Pennsylvania Merchant".
They settled in Berks County, Pennsylvania.

(Sr.), single cooper, born in Switzerland, Canton Bern, two hours from Araw (CH-5000 Aarau, AG), son of the late
Johann Heinrich Christ, former citizen at Niederseebach (67160 Wissenbourg), in the Baronie Fleckenstein,
married January 8, 1715 to Anna Gotz, daugher of the late Johann Jacob Gotz. Married here in Hatten.

It is not know whether the children were born in Hatten or in nearby Niederseebach. They lived in Niederseebach.
