General Notes:

James NOLAND is listed in 1790 and 1810 census' for Rockingham County, Virginia.

Family tradition says James was  kidnapped from England by pirates, made to serve on their ship for a few years, escaped to Virginia. He is also reported to have fought with General George Washington at Valley Forge during the Revolutionary War.
