Private Francis Hauser, Co. I, 17th Regiment Pennsylvania Calvary. Enrolled 15th day of September,1862 for a term of 3 years at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mustered out with Company I at Cloud Mills, Virginia, June 16th 1865.

Wounded Dec. 23 1864 at Gordonsville (?). He is listed as present through December, 1862. In 1863 he is listed as absent on the roll call records [Remarks: Missing, supposed captured by the Rebels while on a scouting party, Jan. 8th, 1863.] Seems to have been missing for 4 months. He appears again as present in May of 1863.

"Paroled prisoner sent from Harrisburg Pa. to Annapolis Md. March 23, 63. Expenses $1.70 sent from camp." (backside of document) "Parole Md. to (Washington D.C.) Army of the Potomac … May 20, ’63 Name appears on Roll for May & June 63 dated Camp Convalescent not on July 24, 63. instant remark., Present there August 7, 1863."
Francis was living at 923 N. 11th St. Reading Pennsylvania when he filled out a form with the Department of Interior, Bureau of Pensions. He gives his address, wife's name, when married and his children's names. Marcella, Frances Mary, Lucy, Raymond Paul, Herbert William, George Francis, Catherine Cecelia, Michael Wm Faby?, Francis Vincent, and Rose Helen. Date he filled out this form Sept 24th 1897
CATHARINE HAUSER WIDOW'S PENSION
Catharine received $30 a month from this pension. Names of witnesses on these documents are: Adam A. Vogel, Rudolph Straab, George Straab. Witnesses to their wedding Anthony Felix and Maria Hauser.
Marriage Record provided, the hand written record is written in Polish and English. The lower handwritten paragraph appears to be a translation of the first. On the 14th day of Sept. 1865 Francis Hauser and Mary Vogel were by me united in matrimony, Anthony Felix and Mary Hauser being witnesses. Signed: ? Wallenmeyer? They were married in a Catholic Church.
