W elcome to the H.A.B.A.T. [Hunter And Barkey Ancestral Tree]. This website is built on our family genealogy beginning with Brian Alan Barkey and Linda Lee [Hunter] Barkey. It is dedicated lovingly to our children - Dawn, Jeff and Brian. [Information on those living has been limited, or omitted, to protect their privacy.]The Barkey/Hunter genealogy has been traced back to the 17th century from Canada and the European continent - England, Poland, Ireland, Scotland, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, and France. Many of our ancestors were Mennonites that immigrated to America seeking escape from religious persecution. Occupations included ministers, farmers, blacksmiths, lumbermen, railroad men, and shopkeepers. Women generally lived at home, working and raising large families. Many family members served in the armed forces. Those wars included the American Revolution [a.k.a. American War of Independence] 1775-1783 , War of 1812 [war between the United States and Great Britain] 1812-1815, American Civil War [a.k.a. War Between the States] 1861-1865, WWI 1914-1919, WWII 1939-1945, Korean War 1950-1953, Vietnam War 1965-1975, and, more recently, the Gulf War [a.k.a. Persian Golf War] 1990-1991. I wish to thank all those who have contributed to the H.A.B.A.T website. A very special thank you to cousin Dave Barkey for his many contributions. I hope you enjoy your visit. and will bookmark us for a return visit.
P. S. Much research has gone into this project but researching the past is not always an easy task. Errors are possible. Information on this website is not copy write protected so, please, feel free to use it with this in mind.
